Advocacy and Mediation Program for Land Based Conflicts in Northern Uganda
The activities under this project included raising community awareness on the land tenure systems and land rights, round table discussions by community leaders, cultural leaders and members from the district land board in addressing the challenges of land ownership by the displaced persons in northern Uganda, engaging of policy personnel at parliamentary level to highlight land conflicts in northern Uganda and mediating between local conflicting households over land ownership. Through this project we were also able to gather information through desk research and comparative analysis of previous studies undertaken in regards to land conflicts in northern Uganda. We have trained persons in Moral Imagination a program that promotes dialogue and building sustainable peace within communities, research and advocacy in conflict mitigation and a cluster of trained peace builders in the different parts of the world to address area specific conflicts including; in the Philippines, USA, Ethiopia, Northern Uganda, and in India. This team coupled with its religious leaders, Trustees like Arch Bishop Odama and civic leaders were key in promoting a culture of sustainable peace through dialogue.

This project was aimed at addressing property injustices committed against women in Eastern Uganda particularly Jinja and Mayuge Districts implemented for two years from 2017 to 2018.
