Our Work

We are providing the blueprint for sustainable peace bridging of religious and cultural divides and working together for the betterment of our communities and society.

 

URI-Great lakes is currently working with its partners on country specific programs within and across the Great Lakes countries to promote nonviolence, cross-learning, justice, human rights and interfaith and intercultural work. It works with CC contact persons from the great lakes countries to design programs that are relevant to the targeted communities in the different countries.

Globally, URI-Great Lakes works with URI global support office, URI Africa office and URI Global regional centers around the world including at UN to implement programs of a global nature. Such include; Peace building programs, Regional cross learnings, the commemoration of international days like, the International Day of Peace, Women’s programs, Golden Rule programs, Youth leadership programs, Environmental programs, among others.

Peace Building

Peace building through dialogue is a central component in all the work what we do with our member organization. our programs put a lot of emphasis on conflict resolution, mediation, and reconciliation

Interfaith Cooperation

At URI we promote interfaith cooperation to enhance peace through the promotion of co-existence through our interconnected networks both locally through CCs and globally through the global membership

Human Rights and Justice Programs

Human rights are inherent. The respect for human rights continues to be a challenge at all levels. This starts from our homes, community, places of work to national and international levels. Our different spiritual teachings call for fairness and respect for humanity.

Environmental protection

Extensive agricultural activities with a high degree of poor farming methods, tree-felling, charcoal burning and brick making are some of the causes for increasing poor environmental conditions in the region.

Youth Empowerment

At URI we promote interfaith cooperation to enhance peace through the promotion of co-existence through our interconnected networks both locally through CCs and globally through the global membership
